Sugary Drinks and Their Potential Dangers A recent study found that consuming sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) daily can increase the likelihood of developing oral cavity cancer in women, a disease usually associated with smoking. Observing 162,602 women over 30 years, researchers found that individuals who consumed at least one sugar-sweetened beverage per day faced 5.46 times the risk of developing oral cavity cancer compared to those who consumed fewer than one per month.
